Do you know Cipollino? I had no idea about this cartoon. It goes down to the 60′ but it still has its fans!!!
It is a fictional character by Gianni Rodari’s eponymous Tale of Cipollino, from an old Italian cartoon, re-made into a Soviet propaganda film. Cipollino, or Little Onion, fights the unjust treatment of his fellow vegetable townsfolk by the fruit royalty (Prince Lemon and the overly proud Lord Tomato) in the garden kingdom.
This onion boy is really cute. Don’t you think? I had to try my best to make my softie as cute as the cartoon 😉
I used my favorite doll cloth (fleece) and this is the result 🙂 ➡ ➡
On my working table, ready to get dressed.
There is also a trick with his hair!!!! They are pull- able!!!
Yes, that is correct!!! You can pull his hair and they grow! As the cartoon character!!!!!
So, what do you think about Cipollino? Is it one of a kind vegetable boy!
You are welcome to adopt one here ❤
Thank you for visiting 🙂
Today I will share with you my story about how I come up with the idea making softies from children drawings. In fact this was not my idea….
One day my nephew came to me with a sketch of his own and asked me if I could bring it into life by making it a real soft toy! !! !!
I looked at his sketch and I saw this strange colorful Cyclops figure……..
mmmmmmm! !!! !! I love creating monsters but THIS one was something else. I loved everything about it from its head to its toe.
This was a real challenge!!!!
The coolest thing about children drawings is that children draw so spontaneously and they create imaginative creatures that are beyond an adults’ mind. You can’t beat them!
So the answer was YESSS! ! ! ! !
And I start working on it……
First here is the HEAD…
then the ARMS…
EYE and BELT…
and last the whole figure 🙂
and BACK side…
From the moment he took it in his arms, it became his dear friend, his night doll. After all he was the unique and individual designer!!!
Thank you Elia ,my dear nephew, for your wonderful idea ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
If you have a sketch from your kid that you will like to make into a soft doll I will be happy to make it!!
Stay tuned as more special custom softies are coming…
Along with Andy Biotic softie, Wesley Blauvelt also requested me to make Andy’s partner Luke O’ cyte. Wesley calls him Andy’s tough as nail side kick. He helps Andy fighting against the Bacterium and the Germs.
Another interesting superhero design for me to turn into a doll!!!!
Luke’s figure is super fun. I liked the idea of wearing a karate outfit and having a black ribbon around his head. A difficult task for me, as I had first of all to teach him how to karate 😉
Check below how comic superhero Luke O’ cyte turns into a real soft doll ➡ ➡
Look out Germs!! Andy and Luke are coming !!! 🙂 🙂
They are an amazing team!!! Don’t you think?
Stay tuned for more custom dolls and ideas 😀
I will be happy to make any sketch/design of your own into a plush softie.
Last month Wesley Blauvelt, the creator of Andy Biotic in The Infection comic book, contact me for a special custom doll. Andy Biotic is the main superhero of this book that explains in a funny way what happens inside our body.
Wesley has written and illustrated “Andy Biotic in The Infection” comic book that explains the complex idea of infections, fevers, and medicine and makes it simple and fun. You can learn more about him and his goal at Kickstarter
He had the amazing idea to turn the super hero of his book into a soft doll ❗ ❗ ❗
He asked me if I could create Andy Biotic. I loved the idea because Andy is not just a fascinating design, but he is also a superhero that entertains and educates children and adults about their bodies and health.

Creating custom dolls is always a challenge. Wesley was very helpful and we exchanged many emails and photos during the whole process, in order to reach this unique softie.
I enjoyed creating Andy Biotic custom doll and I hope it will be a boost at Wesley’s work.
If you also have an idea or a sketch and you would like to make it a real doll, please contact me and I will be happy to talk about it 🙂 🙂
